CoEfficient Underwriters was founded in 2012 on one guiding principle: better workers' compensation programs are intentionally designed, not simply assembled. After years of working within traditional workers' compensation programs, we recognized opportunities to build programs that better aligned performance, long-term stability, and client outcomes. What began with redefining the captive experience has grown into a broader philosophy that continues to shape every program we design and manage today.
We believe that the strongest workers' compensation programs are built by professionals who understand the entire lifecycle of a policy--not just one piece of it.
Our team has spent decades building workers' compensation programs from the ground up. That experience extends well beyond underwriting to include carrier partnerships, claims oversight, premium audit, risk management, and the day-to-day decisions that determine whether a program succeeds over the long term. It's that broad perspective that continues to shape every program we build today.
Having managed more than $1 billion in property and casualty premium, our leadership team has gained experience across thousands of policies, countless claims, and a wide range of industries.

Jeff Nacyk
President & Co-Founder
Jeff has more than 30 years of experience developing insurance programs, alternative risk solutions, and specialty underwriting products. Before co-founding CoEfficient Underwriters, he served as Senior Vice President of Underwriting for the alternative risk division of one of the world's largest insurance brokerage and risk management organizations, where he led the underwriting team and oversaw the management and development of specialized insurance programs.
Today, Jeff leads CoEfficient's strategic direction, business development, carrier relationships, and long-term program growth. His vision for thoughtfully designed insurance programs continues to shape the company's evolution and the solutions it brings to market.
Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Elmhurst College
Katie Hughes, CPCU
Executive Vice President & Co-Founder
Katie has more than 20 years of experience designing, underwriting, and managing both guaranteed cost and captive insurance programs across the property and casualty marketplace. Prior to co-founding CoEfficient, she helped develop specialized insurance programs within the alternative risk division of one of the world's largest insurance brokerage and risk management organizations.
Today, Katie oversees financial operations, underwriting strategy, program administration, carrier relationships, and the financial management of each program's monthly payroll reporting process. Her leadership helps ensure every CoEfficient program is managed with financial discipline, operational consistency, and exceptional service.
Katie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Actuarial Science with a minor in Finance from Roosevelt University, holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, and earned her MBA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Lisa K. From
Vice President
Lisa has more than 17 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, with expertise spanning underwriting, alternative risk, program management, marketing, and operations. Her career includes underwriting positions with Travelers, AIG, and the alternative risk division of one of the world's largest insurance brokerage and risk management organizations, where she gained extensive experience designing and managing specialized insurance programs.
At CoEfficient, Lisa leads the operational management and continuous refinement of the company's insurance programs. By bringing together underwriting, marketing, carrier and service partner coordination, claims stewardship, risk control, premium audit, and operational processes, she helps ensure every program delivers the level of service and performance CoEfficient is known for.
Lisa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Creative Writing from Knox College.
Bernie Clegg
Vice President - Transportation
Bernie has more than 40 years of experience specializing in transportation insurance, workers' compensation, and alternative risk solutions. Throughout his career, he has worked with trucking companies of every size and developed specialized insurance programs to address the unique risks of the transportation industry.
At CoEfficient, Bernie leads the company's transportation initiatives, including IC Management Services, a workers' compensation program built specifically for independent contractor drivers operating under motor carrier authority. His experience developing innovative solutions for this highly specialized market continues to shape the program today.
Bernie holds a degree in Business and maintains both the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
