Our Story.
We founded CoEfficient Underwriters, Inc. in 2012 to create products that fill the gap between traditional group captives and guaranteed cost products. We saw that there was need for a solution that offers the financial benefits of a captive, without the liabilities and assessments of the original model.
Our expertise is focused mainly on alternative risk products for Workers’ Compensation, including our unique captives, specifically tailored for middle market businesses in the temporary staffing, transportation, healthcare, and construction industries.
Through our Specialty Division—IC Management Services, Inc.—we also offer Workers’ Compensation to independent contractor drivers who operate under lease to a motor carrier. With this product we can also offer Workers' Compensation to various other industries that utilize 1099s under contract.
The management team at CoEfficient Underwriters, Inc. has over 90 combined years and over $1 Billion Dollars of premium experience in Property and Casualty. Our strong relationships with nationally recognized insurance carriers and service providers help us to offer complete programs with robust risk management platforms and flexible financing options.

Jeff Nacyk
President & Co-Founder
Jeff has over 30 years of experience in the Risk Management and Insurance Brokerage industry. Prior to founding CoEfficient, Jeff's insurance career was spent at one of the largest insurance and risk management services firms in the world--where he was Senior Vice President-Underwriting of a specialty division that provided program and alternative risk solutions. Jeff was responsible for the creation of many new products and services that the company offered. Jeff earned a B.S. degree in Marketing from Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL.
Lisa K. From
Vice President
Lisa brings more than 15 years of experience in Property and Casualty insurance. She has held underwriting positions at Travelers and AIG, focusing on construction and global energy sectors. Additionally, Lisa spent several years in the alternative risk division of a major brokerage firm, underwriting various captive products. Alongside her underwriting and management expertise, she has significant experience in sales, marketing, systems design, management. Lisa holds a B.A. in Biology and Creative Writing from Knox College.
Katie Hughes, CPCU
EVP & Co-Founder
Katie has over 20 years of experience building and underwriting both captive and guaranteed cost insurance programs for Property & Casualty lines of coverage. Prior to founding CoEfficient, she worked in a specialty division of one the largest insurance and risk management services firms in the world. Katie earned a B.A. degree in Actuarial Science with a minor in Finance from Roosevelt University, the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) insurance designation, and an MBA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Bernie Clegg
Vice President - Transportion
Bernie has 40 years in the Commercial Insurance Business, specializing in the transportation industry. He spent time as a broker and underwriter for Auto Liability, Physical Damage and Cargo for trucking companies of all sizes. He is also versatile in captive programs and their placements. Bernie established a company providing statutory Workers Compensation coverage to independent contractors operating under the authority of a motor carrier. He has a degree in business as well as an extensive insurance education holding his CIC and ARM designations.
